There were different tribes that were taken into captivity during the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade 1526.
The Ashanti are a huge ethic group that can be found in Ghana. Since Ghana is really a new nation, the original name was the Gold Coast.
They are the largest tribe in Ghana, the Ashanti tribes are known as the fierce fighters. Ashanti are noted for their expertise in specialized crafts.
These include weaving, wood carving, ceramics, the renown kente cloth and metallurgy. Of these crafts, only pottery making is primarily a female activity; the others are restricted to male specialists.
Pottery is primarily the females activity. The other forms of crafts are strictly for male specialist.
