Trauma refers to a circumstance in which your sense of safety was jeopardized in some manner, either directly or indirectly. Although trauma is typically a result of impactful, life-altering incidents, it can also stem from the cumulative impact of everyday stressors, such as racial discrimination and other forms of bias. Trauma-informed care encompasses a range of approaches aimed at assisting individuals dealing with trauma, with a primary focus on building trust, providing security, and understanding the patient’s viewpoint.
