Aubrey Louis Berry

*The trial for the murdered Atlanta rapper, Dolla (Roderick Anthony Burton II), began earlier this week in a Los Angeles courthouse.

The 21-year-old budding star signed with Konvict Muzik and became Akon’s protégé. In March last year, the young Burton was gunned down in a Los Angeles mall.

The defendant, Aubrey Louis Berry, allegedly opened fire on him in the valet of the Beverly Center. According to reports, Deputy District Attorney Robert Grace told the juror Berry ordered the valet to retrieve his car after shooting the victim. He then proceeded to drive around Burton, as he lay lifeless.

Berry has pleaded “not guilty” to one count of murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The defendant’s lawyer told the court that Berry was acting in self-defense at the time, and was fearful of Burton’s alleged violent nature.

Weeks before the shooting, the two were involved in an altercation at an Atlanta strip club.

The trial is expected to proceed at least a week.
