According to stylist Niki Schwan, Minaj succeeds in fashion due to her laxed and fearless approach to new ideas.

“She never takes herself too seriously, which makes this outlandish fun style really approachable and that appeals to women and girls in a huge way. She incorporates tons of humor into her style and is fearless in her approach, which I think people really admire and appreciate — as an artist, a woman, and a rising icon. She really pushes women and girls to have fun with their style, to be unique unto yourself…which sums up her statement, in a way, without even really trying.” (Ottawa Citizen)

Last month, Minaj revealed her recent inspiration to sport a more animated hair style.

“Never did I think I would be rocking the Marge Simpson,” Minaj said in an interview referring to the “Simpsons” cartoon character. “But you know what, now that I am [wearing] them I realize that she was cutting edge and before her time. So shout out to Marge…My wigs are ever changing in height, width, color, size. They make me feel happy. Wearing them makes me feel that I can be a different person every day and that is kind of exciting…Sometimes I wake up in the morning and I am like, ‘This is a high-top day’ or ‘This is a bob day,’ but when I get my clothes on that’s when I see…I always have lots of wigs to choose from.” (PEOPLE)

In summer 2010, Minaj opened up about her obsession with rocking green and pink wigs.

If you choose to wig it: “Go for a human hair wig in jet black with a blunt cut China bag…I like the green bob. Everyone seems to like that. People are saying it’s the winner right now…I decided to choose a new look. Color makes me happy. It really excites me. I am a very visual person and when I look in the mirror, and I see green or I see pink, it does something to my attitude. It makes me feel positive.’ (Hype Hair)

In a past interview, Minaj said she hoped to one day shave her head and rock a fresh bald cut.

“I’d like to be able to come out in jeans and slippers. The world has seen all my crazy antics, so now I’m ready to be a regular person…I like to experiment with hair and makeup, so maybe I’ll just shave my whole hair bald…I know right now she has no idea who I am, but I’d like to collab with Enya one day. Of course I’d love to work with Jay-Z, maybe even Phil Collins. I love his voice.” (VIBE)
