A district spokeswoman says the precautionary measure was implemented after a number of fights at the school this morning and rumors that one of those students involved had a weapon.
The person named with the possible weapon is not at the school. Officers are sweeping the school to determine if any weapon was brought inside the building.
Schools are on a heightened state of alert following the fatal Chardon High School shootings where three students died and two were injured.
