Aaron McNamara (pictured), a Fairview Park, Ohio, police department auxiliary, resigned from his post after he was accused of posting incendiary posts on his social media sites, oftentimes referring to Blacks as “jungle monkey” and “spooks,” according to ABC 5 News.

The 20-year-old McNamara reportedly wrote:

“Abolishing slavery was the worst thing we could have done. These people should be exterminated… Unbelievable.”

After being caught red-handed, McNamara insisted that the posts were written when he was much younger. He now allegedly regrets his comments, writing the following in his resignation letter to the police department:

“The comments I made in those particular videos were a product of my youth and immaturity; by no means am I a prejudice individual. I am an advocate for equality, and I am highly disappointed in myself for the statements I had previously made. I cannot recollect the most recent comment I was accused of making in February 2014, but I am not denying the claim.”

The Fairview Park police department reportedly had not seen McNamara’s comments, but after interviewing him, they reportedly decided that he be “asked to resign.” Ironically, after the police department conducted a background check on McNamara, not one inkling of his racist tendencies appeared anywhere in his paperwork.

As an auxiliary officer, McNamara was not allowed to cuff a lawbreaker but could help with such run-of-the-mill duties as traffic control, the locking up of city parks, and assisting with parades. In a statement, Fairview Park Police Chief Erich Upperman reportedly told Raw Story that the city “does not tolerate this type of conduct from any person working or volunteering for this city.“ This is the first we are hearing of this and it will be immediately and appropriately investigated. During his brief tenure with our agency, the volunteer never displayed any prejudicial leanings, nor did any arise during his background check.”
