As the country watches developments in the case of a black woman found dead in a jail cell in Texas, a black woman has been found dead at a Cleveland-area jail.
Ralkina Jones, 37, was found unresponsive in her cell at a jail in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, at about 7:35 a.m. ET Sunday, according to the Cleveland Heights Police Department.
The Cleveland Heights Fire Department was contacted and paramedics determined Jones was dead, police said in a statement released Monday afternoon.
“Our thoughts are with Ms. Jones loved ones during this time of loss,” the police department said in the statement.
