In the special presentation, Queen Bey walks us through the tale of a woman dealing with and recovering from a troubled relationship. The film is jam-packed with jaw-dropping scenes set in the Bayou of the deep south with Beyoncé and her dancers in traditional Southern garb. Beyonce’s voice narrates the visual album with sweet, melodic spoken word against vibrant, powerful imagery. The track listing is played out in 12 scenes: Intuition, Denial, Anger, Apathy, Emptiness, Loss, Accountability, Reformation, Forgiveness, Resurrection, Hope and Redemption.
Aside from using the film as a vehicle to debut the dope tracks off the new album, Bey uses the film to chronicle the journey of finding yourself through the history, understanding and ultimately, love. The Queen also tapped some of her superstar friends for cameos including husband Jay-Z, Blue Ivy, Serena Williams, Quvenzhané Wallis, Amandla Stenberg, and vocal assistance from The Weeknd.
There are also some heart wrenching scenes featuring the families of slain victims Trayvon Martin, Eric Gardner and Mike Brown, as well as never before seen footage of Beyonce’s most intimate moments from her wedding, pregnancy and throwback home videos with her father Matthew Knowles.
