By now, we all know that the Western Conference is now home to the King.

But for the last five years or so, it’s been home to another player who is royalty in his own right: Steph Curry. Everyone predicted that this year’s Western Conference Finals would be more exciting than the finals and they were right. And now, James will only make the competition that much stronger. But with Curry now having his Finals rival playing in the same state as him, we’ve all been wondering how he feels about James’ big move to the Lakers.

In an interview with USA Today‘s Sam Amick, Curry made sure everyone knows that the West is much stronger, but for the Lakers’ new squad to possibly get to the Finals, they’ve still gotta get past the Golden State Warriors.

“There’s a lot that’s been made about the competition in the West and his eight straight Finals appearances and all that, but that just makes everybody raise the antenna up a little bit—including us. It’s going to be fun for fans, playing [more] in the regular season and who knows in the playoffs. So the West obviously got stronger with LeBron, but you’ve still got to beat us,” Curry said.

Laker fans—and LeBron fans alike—are wondering how the King will gel with the likes of JaVale McGee, Lance Stephenson, Rajon Rondo, and LA’s young core composed of Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Lonzo Ball. Curry, too, is wondering how they’ll come together on the court.

“I don’t know what they’re going to be as a team, because obviously it’s brand new and they don’t have their identity. But at the end of the day, they’ll come together with LeBron leading the charge. At the end of the day, he’s in a great market, he’s in a great city, he’s around a great organization that has had a history of winning, he’s with [Lakers president of basketball operations] Magic [Johnson]. It’s interesting for him to make a move.”

The one thing that can be certain is that the Finals fatigue of Steph versus LeBron is over—only one of them can make it out this year.
