In light of the steadily alarming rise of maternal mortality in the U.S., which recent data shows has been exacerbated by the pandemic, MetroHealth in Cleveland, supports black mothers through its focus to eradicate this epidemic in the Northeast Ohio region. This is just one goal of MetroHealth’s new President & CEO Dr. Airica Steed – the health system’s first black woman CEO and nurse to hold the position.
With the upcoming Black Maternal Health Week on April 11 through 17, today we have Dr. Jessica Pippen, a Maternal/Fetal Medicine Physician and Director of the Mother Child Dependency Program and Antepartum Services at MetroHealth, here to talk with us about black maternal health, the disparities and what MetroHealth is doing to help.
